The Watcheye R Receiver has a 5 star review in Germany
Yacht, a renowned German nautical magazine, tested 12 AIS receivers and gave Watcheye 5 out of 5. “There is no navigation without AIS”, states the article.
Watcheye proudly presents the new Watcheye wifi Wave. The device starts a new era of wireless navigation. We invested considerable time developping the Wave, listening to your wishes (making AIS data wireless for a reasonable price) and started from there. In collaboration with our French friends of NKE we developed the Watcheye wifi Wave.
The Watcheye wifi Wave is connected to the AIS and transfers all data wirelessly to an iPad, tablet or smartphone. It is also possible to add one other piece of equipment to the Wave, so that the most important information is visible at any time. The Wave also has a wired output, to remain your connections with the existing equipment (such as the chart plotter).
There are many great apps available for iOS and Android, which also support AIS. But please note that most apps rely on internet data, like websites as marinetraffic. These are absolutely not designed to be used as navigation tool. In our opinion the best app so far is iNavx, which is a very comprehensive navigation app, with the use of Navionics digital charts (as in-app).
The Watcheye AIS app is under construction and is expected to be available before the end of the year. We are happy to learn what you would like to see in this app, so please feel free to let us know.
